Trash Day Beginner Guide
Trash Day revolves around coordinating movement, carrying trash, operating the truck, and surviving environmental hazards. A successful run depends on keeping the vehicle usable, loading efficiently, and returning with the collected trash instead of getting stranded.
Prepare Before Leaving
Start by deciding who will drive, who will collect trash, and who will handle obstacles or assist with loading. Check the truck and keep the group together before moving away from the starting area.
- Choose a driver before the run begins.
- Keep enough players available to move or load heavy objects.
- Avoid spreading out until the route and objective are clear.
Collect and Move Trash
Search the area for collectible trash and carry it back toward the truck. Use short trips when the route is dangerous, and place items where they can be loaded without blocking access to the vehicle.
- Prioritize trash that is close to the truck or along the planned route.
- Move carefully around hazards and uneven terrain.
- Keep the collection area organized so items are easier to load.
Load the Truck Efficiently
Transfer collected trash into the truck while leaving enough room for players to move around it. Coordinate loading so multiple players do not obstruct one another.
- Load items in a controlled order instead of throwing everything at once.
- Keep the truck accessible for the driver.
- Confirm that important trash has been loaded before leaving an area.
Cross Obstacles Together
Use teamwork to get past environmental obstacles and dangerous sections. Players can scout ahead, move objects, stabilize the route, or guide the truck through difficult spaces.
- Stop the vehicle when the route is unclear.
- Let one player direct the movement while others handle the obstacle.
- Avoid rushing into hazards that could damage or trap the truck.
Return to Raccoon Paradise
Once the truck is loaded and the objective is complete, regroup and drive back toward Raccoon Paradise. A safe return is more important than collecting one last risky item.
- Regroup before starting the return trip.
- Keep the driver informed about damage and blocked routes.
- Leave dangerous areas early if the truck is becoming difficult to control.
Trash Day Co-op Guide
A strong co-op group avoids duplicated work. Assign a driver, organize collectors around the truck, and use short callouts when the team encounters an obstacle, a dangerous route, or a damaged vehicle.
Driver
Controls the truck and keeps the vehicle positioned for loading, unloading, and route progression.
Responsibilities
- Park close to the collection route without blocking the crew.
- Wait for the team before moving through difficult sections.
- Watch for damage, blocked paths, and unsafe driving conditions.
Communication
- Ask before reversing or changing direction.
- Call out when the truck needs repairs or repositioning.
- Confirm when the group is ready to leave.
Collectors
Search for trash, carry items back to the vehicle, and keep the collection area organized.
Responsibilities
- Split up only when the route is safe.
- Prioritize nearby or difficult-to-reach trash.
- Bring items back instead of leaving them scattered around the map.
Communication
- Report where the next group of trash is located.
- Tell the team when an item is too difficult to move alone.
- Warn the driver before crossing in front of the truck.
Handles environmental barriers and helps the group move safely through sections where the truck or carried items can become stuck.
Responsibilities
- Scout the route ahead of the truck.
- Coordinate pushing, moving, or clearing objects.
- Guide the driver through narrow or hazardous spaces.
Communication
- Use one player as the route caller.
- Give clear stop and go instructions.
- Announce when the path is open and safe.
Keeps an eye on the condition of the truck and assists when the vehicle or a player gets into trouble.
Responsibilities
- Monitor problems that could prevent the return trip.
- Help recover players or items from awkward positions.
- Avoid abandoning the truck during a dangerous section.
Communication
- Call for help as soon as a player becomes stuck.
- Tell the driver when the team needs more time.
- Confirm that the group is together before continuing.
Trash Day Walkthrough & Areas
Each area should be approached as part of one connected transport run. Before moving deeper into the route, secure the truck, identify the safest path, and make sure the team can return with the collected trash.
Begin the collection route and establish the team's working pattern.
Route
- 1.Park the truck where the crew can reach it easily.
- 2.Search nearby collection points before moving farther away.
- 3.Use the starting area to confirm roles and communication.
Hazards
- Players becoming separated from the truck
- Unorganized piles that slow down loading
- Moving away from the safe route too early
Recommended Strategy
Use Animal Control as the staging area. Keep one player near the truck while others collect, then regroup before progressing.
Trash Day Items & Upgrades
The most useful resources are the ones that keep the collection loop moving. Prioritize items that support carrying, loading, obstacle handling, vehicle upkeep, or future runs, while treating cosmetic content as optional customization.
| Category | Role | Priority | Usage | Team Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trash Items | Primary collection objective | High | Collect, carry, and load trash into the truck as part of the run objective. | Keep collected items near the truck and avoid scattering them across the route. |
| Utility Tools | Exploration and obstacle support | High | Assist with moving through difficult areas, handling physical obstacles, and recovering from awkward positions. | Coordinate tool use so players do not duplicate the same task or block the route. |
| Truck Repairs | Vehicle upkeep | High | Maintain the truck so it can continue collecting, transporting, and returning to Raccoon Paradise. | Address vehicle problems before entering a dangerous or difficult section. |
| Truck Upgrades | Run efficiency and capability | Medium | Improve the vehicle or its usefulness during collection and transportation runs. | Prioritize upgrades that reduce downtime or make repeated routes easier to manage. |
| Exploration Resources | Route preparation | Medium | Support scouting, movement, and decision-making while the crew explores areas such as Animal Control and the Junkyard. | Use resources to make the route safer before committing the full team and truck. |
| Cosmetic Content | Appearance customization | Optional | Change the presentation of the player, crew, or vehicle without replacing the core collection and transport loop. | Collect or unlock cosmetics after essential run requirements are covered. |
Trash Day Controls & Physics Tips
Trash Day relies on hands-on physics interactions rather than simple item placement. Successful crews need to understand pushing, pulling, vehicle momentum, improvised ramps, elastic devices, obstacle movement, and safe recovery techniques when objects become wedged or piles become unstable.
Push, Pull, and Stabilize
- Push from a broad, unobstructed side whenever possible so the object moves in a predictable direction.
- Pulling is safer when one player controls the direction and another clears nearby obstacles.
- If an item starts rocking or sliding sideways, release it, reposition the team, and approach it again instead of forcing the interaction.
Watch out: Objects can become trapped against walls, corners, vehicles, or other pieces of rubbish.
Team fix: Use one player to apply force, one player to guide the object, and a third player to keep the route clear.
Control the Truck Before Loading
- Line up the truck before loading heavy or awkward objects.
- Avoid sharp turns while carrying or towing unstable loads.
- Use low-speed corrections near walls, ramps, narrow passages, and other players.
- If the truck begins to slide or rotate unexpectedly, stop accelerating and create space before attempting to recover.
Watch out: A truck can lose control when its momentum combines with uneven terrain, crowded loading areas, or poorly balanced cargo.
Team fix: Assign one driver and have the rest of the crew act as spotters rather than entering the vehicle area.
Use Boards and Elastic Devices as Tools
- Place boards to create a gradual route over low obstacles rather than using them at steep angles.
- Check both ends of a board before moving heavy objects across it.
- Treat elastic devices as momentum tools: clear the landing area first and keep teammates away from the line of travel.
- Use short, controlled movements when an object is close to an edge or obstruction.
Watch out: Improvised ramps and elastic equipment can send objects farther than expected or leave them wedged at an awkward angle.
Team fix: Have one player operate the device while another watches the landing zone and calls when the route is clear.
Clear Obstacles and Recover Stuck Items
- Remove small objects from the route before attempting to move a large pile.
- When an item is stuck, change the angle of approach instead of repeatedly applying force from the same position.
- Separate overlapping items whenever possible before trying to move the entire stack.
- Keep a clear fallback path so a failed attempt does not block the work area.
Watch out: Stacked or overlapping objects may collide, clip into one another, or become difficult to select.
Team fix: Pause the operation, identify the object causing the obstruction, and move the smallest blocking item first.
Manage Piles with Clear Roles
- Divide the area into loading, staging, and clear-route zones.
- Move heavy objects before filling narrow access points with smaller rubbish.
- Use short voice commands such as stop, reverse, clear, and release.
- When the pile becomes unstable, stop adding items and restore a clear route before continuing.
Watch out: Unplanned stacking can block vehicles, hide interactable objects, and make later recovery much harder.
Team fix: Choose one player as the route coordinator so the crew follows a single loading plan.
